The distance rule
To read text comfortably, the furthest viewer should sit no further than about 4–6 image heights away. An 86" display has an image about 107 cm high, which gives a comfortable 6–8 m.
Mounting height
The bottom edge of the screen is usually 70–90 cm above the floor in primary schools and 90–100 cm in secondary schools and meeting rooms. In preschools, a height-adjustable stand works best.

Frequently asked questions
Which display for a 7 m room?
86 inch. At 8.5 m or more, consider 98 inch or two displays.
Is a bigger display always better?
No – in a small room, an oversized screen tires people sitting close to it. Match it to the distance of the first and last rows.
